To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar the BBC crafted a programme hosted by Michael Portillo juxtaposing what life is like now and what it would have been like then, around the site of the naval battle of Trafalgar. We were asked to recreate the different fleets as 'ghost' ships, and place them in the port of Cadiz and the surrounding seas, to show the lead up to the battle and then how it played out.
We also recreated actual battle shots and animated 3d maps to show exactly how Nelson broke the line and then defeated the Spanish in what is England's most famous sea battle. To achieve all this we spent some time visual effect supervising on location in southern Spain and then many weeks back at the studios in London, eventually completing around 40 shots in all.
