RECENT WORK: Atomic have always worked on film, but when Rupert Wyatt - one of their in house directors - became a big Hollywood director they started to focus even more on feature film work. After Rupert’s cult success with ‘The Escapist’ (2008) where Atomic Arts completed all the visual effects for the feature film, Rupert next went on to direct 20th Century Fox's blockbuster ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, on which Atomic got to do some monkey magic. In 2014 Rupert directed ‘The Gamber’ with Mark Wahlberg and John Goodman (released December 2014). Atomic again on-set supervised and then completed in-house the visual effects for the entire film. This totalled over 180 shots including multiple 3d crowd shots using the same Massive software as used in Lord of the Rings, and a 30 second shot of a photoreal, albeit surreal water sequence - the imagery for Mark Wahlberg’s deteriorating stream of consciousness. It was a fully 3D environment with storm effects and a CG river running straight into camera.
